Fifteen Days Across Tokyo, Kyoto and Beyond

A private party across seven destinations Late summer

Mount Fuji reflected across Lake Kawaguchi at dusk

This fifteen-day journey was built for a private party that wanted to see far beyond a single version of Japan. Tokyo and Kyoto formed the anchors, with Nara, Mt. Fuji, Hakone, Kamakura and Yokohama adding distinct changes of pace between them.

One of our own guides accompanied the party for all fifteen days and every destination, an arrangement we are glad to make when a program calls for it.

Tokyo: landmarks, neighborhoods and first encounters

The opening days moved between Tokyo’s best-known sights and experiences that made the city feel more personal. The program paired Senso-ji and Tokyo Skytree with a rickshaw ride, matcha, city views and contemporary art. Another day connected Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine and Shibuya before continuing into indoor golf and sumo.

The itinerary did not ask the party to absorb the city in one continuous sweep. Private transfers and returns to the hotel created clear breaks between the larger days.

Kyoto and Nara: temples, craft and time to participate

Kyoto began around Chawan-zaka, Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangendo, then widened into Arashiyama, Tenryu-ji, Kinkaku-ji and Nishiki Market. Fushimi Inari, Uji, Byodo-in, a sweets experience, kimono and Nijo Castle brought together architecture, food and hands-on participation rather than treating the city as a list of monuments.

A separate day in Nara centered on the deer park and Todai-ji before returning to Kyoto.

Mt. Fuji and Hakone: a change of scale

The route then shifted from cities to the Fuji and Hakone area. Oshino, Lake Kawaguchi, Oishi Park, Lake Ashi and the Hakone Open-Air Museum gave the party several different ways to experience the landscape, with the sequence adjusted around travel time and visibility.

Kamakura and Yokohama: a final coastal chapter

Kamakura and Yokohama formed the closing chapter of the journey, bringing together historic sites, coastal atmosphere and one last change of setting before departure.

What made it work

The program alternated high-interest touring with practical resets. Major sights were present, but the journey also made room for matcha, a rickshaw ride, art, markets, kimono and other participatory experiences. Private transfers kept a geographically ambitious route workable without turning every day into a race.
